Process-Oriented Coma Work: One Year Program for Connection and Communication with Your Loved One.

Over the course of a year, you will learn process-oriented coma work—a method supporting the restoration of deep connection with family members in altered states of consciousness such as coma, dementia, or delirium.

Process-oriented coma work supports individuals to connect deeply and live fully as themselves, regardless of their state of consciousness. While representing a new form of end-of-life care, it is inseparable from the process of caregivers awakening to their own potential and meaning in life.


This is a unique learning opportunity to restore connection with cherished family members in altered states of consciousness and to advance your own inner awakening together.


Program has 4 components of which some are compulsory and some are optional

 

1) 8 Online Seminars (Recorded lectures available for viewing)

     ・Schedule: Fourth Saturday of each month from September '26 to August '27,

  11:00-13:30 or 12:00 - 14:30 PM JST (2.5 hrs)

   ・ Format: Lecture & Inner Work (1.5hrs) and Review of theory (1hr)

・ Compulsory reading material for the course: Coma, a Healing Journey” by Amy Mindell; Doorway into Dying by Ingrid Rose & Kay Ryan

 

2)    Optional: One day In-person seminar in Tokyo with Gary Reiss in mid-October

1 day ‘Coma Work Seminar: Learning Work to Connect Mind and Body’

3) 3 In-person Study Sessions facilitated by Kaori, Kensuke, Shizuka

    Dates and time will be informed later.

2. Participation fee

98,000 yen (excluding tax) for Japanese participants

Through this program, you will learn the basics of coma work and gain hands-on experience. You can use these skills to help restore connections with family

members and friends who are in an altered state of consciousness.



【Instructor Profiles】

Gary Reiss, PhD

PWI Certified Process Work Trainer, Founder of Process Work Center Hawaii

Gary has been in private practice as an LCSW in Oregon for over 30 years and teaches as a certified Process-Oriented Psychology trainer in various countries around the world, including Japan. He has been involved in conflict work in the Middle East, and has supported the development of process-oriented family therapy and coma work. He is also dedicated to integrating shamanism, Taoism, Kabbalah, and other spiritual approaches into process work. In 2023, he founded the Process Work Center Hawaii. He maintains a daily routine of practicing Aikido and running in nature, while cherishing time to think about and discuss new ideas, dreams, and theories.

His published works include " From Self-Transformation to World Transformation: An Attempt at Local Transformation through Process Work," "Healing History: Breaking the Cycle of Personal and Historical Trauma (English Edition)," "Getting off the Wheel: A Process-Oriented Psychology Approach to Personal and World Liberation," "Inside Coma: A New View of Awareness, Healing, and Hope," and many others.


Ingrid Rose, PhD; Dip. POP

Ingrid has been active for over 30 years as a practicing therapist, clinical supervisor, and group facilitator, among other roles. She also teaches at Process Work Centers in Portland and Hawaii, as well as at the Department of Child and Family Studies at Portland State University, and conducts training and workshops worldwide. Furthermore, she has extensive experience in yoga and meditation and holds a strong interest in shamanism.

Her published works include " School Violence: Studies of Alienation, Revenge and Redemption " and, co-authored with Kay Ryan, "Doorway into Dying: Innovative Teachings for End of Life."


Kay Ryan, MHSc; MNZAP; Dip. POP

Kay is a founding member of process-oriented psychology in Aotearoa, New Zealand. With over 35 years of experience as a psychotherapist. She spent several years focusing on psychological and spiritual care in a hospice, teaching staff and families communication skills for patients in coma. More recently, Kay established NODA (No One Dies Alone) at a local hospital , training volunteers to support those dying without the support of family and friends.
